Overview

Embedded: The Series

Embedded is a docu-series that fights all forms of human trafficking. With a team that operates both domestically and internationally, Embedded aims to dismantle the shadowy networks of this global scourge. The series not only traces the origins of traffickers and their methodologies in ensnaring victims but also seeks to educate its audience about the intricate infrastructure that sustains this illicit industry. By shedding light on this pressing issue, Embedded contributes to the global fight against human trafficking, aiming to inform, awaken, and mobilize collective action.

Embedded places the viewer front and center in the planning and execution of human-trafficking investigations, intercepts, rescues, and arrest operations. The audience will come face-to-face with even more cunning perpetrators, the challenges of combating trafficking unique to every state and nation on Earth – and in every viewer’s backyard.

The risk and danger faced by the team – both physical and mental – are real. Each operation exposes the team to potentially violent criminal elements, gun-wielding pimps, and ruthless criminal networks – all hiding in plain sight. They can do everything right and still lose victims and perpetrators. Direct and vicarious trauma from repeated encounters with victims takes an insidious toll on the emotional well-being of the entire team. From maintaining their cover in intense situations to split-second decisions with life-changing legal and operational consequences.

To date, the principal filmmakers and creative team have…
– Established deep relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
– Conducted successful operations in Cambodia, Los Angeles, and Virginia.
– Successfully produced a 60-minute episode investigating a wealthy Beverly Hills trafficker exploiting 12-20 girls per month through an Illicit Massage Business (IMB).
– Completed principal photography on a second 60-minute episode.
– Continued to expand the scope of investigative opportunities including sex and labor trafficking.
– Engaged in assessment for episode operations in Miami, New York, the Dominican Republic, West Africa, India, Indonesia, and in Louisville, KY during the KY Derby.

“Sound of Freedom,” an independent film, serves as a testament to the power of story when addressing a complex and challenging subject. This not only shattered box office expectations but also ignited conversations worldwide. It’s proof that people crave content that not only entertains but also enlightens and inspires.

CAST

Vince

The Embedded Team Lead, Vince, is a former Marine who served as a California Highway Patrolman before becoming a Department of Justice Special Agent, then a Special Agent Supervisor with the Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement, cross-sworn with the FBI. After 22 years in law enforcement, Vic worked as Director of Investigations for International Justice Mission (IJM), leading human trafficking investigations and rescue operations around the world, including in slave labor, sex trafficking of minors, cybersex trafficking, and forced child slavery. Since 2017, Vic has been conducting human trafficking investigations for both IJM and Slavery No More.
Driven and impatient, despite being one of the leading human trafficking investigation experts in the world, Vince is a caring and deeply thoughtful leader who nevertheless lives by his favorite quote, "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet." When not taking down bad guys, you can find Vince in the mountains photographing wildlife.

Jeff

A decorated former Marine, Jeff has over 33 years of investigations, police training, and security experience. Most recently, Jeff served for over 10 years as Chief Investigations and Security Officer with Love Justice International, an anti-trafficking organization operating in over 20 countries around the world. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Investigations with International Justice Mission.
Jeff has conducted over 450 undercover operations in dozens of countries, working with and training local law enforcement and interviewing hundreds of victims of trafficking to learn more about ways to combat the crime. Jeff has served as an expert witness for the U.S. Attorney’s Office on foreign child sex tourism cases and has been recognized for his work by the U.N., ICE, and the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security. A complex thinker and ever-willing trainer, Jeff is a quiet bad-ass who doesn’t suffer fools. When he speaks, everyone listens. To manage stress and trauma, Jeff’s outlet is in the ordinary – baking and cooking for friends and family.

Luke

An ex-military-intelligence operative, Luke currently serves as the CEO of Shield of The Children and a security operations manager for an aid organization based in South-East Asia. Leigh does significant work throughout South-East Asia, including a total of 14 years in Indonesia. He has conducted anti-human trafficking operations in Cambodia, Thailand, Ukraine, and the United States, as well as coordinated and conducted prevention operations in Indonesia, Cambodia, Poland, and Ukraine. Until 2018, Leigh was an intelligence operator within the Australian Intelligence Community (AIC), acquiring significant operational intelligence experience over 11 years in the Australian Defense Force working with various intelligence agencies within the AIC. An intense operative with infectious Aussie humor, Luke thinks fast, talks faster, but acts with measured steps, remaining calm throughout.

Jenny

Bold, funny, and an adept chameleon undercover who speaks multiple languages, Jen is an experienced Aussie anti-trafficking operative and a paradox of steel nerves and compassion. A nurse, educator, and child-protection advocate when she’s not on operations, Jen founded an NGO to prevent teen and young-adult abuse, STI transmission, porn addiction, and trafficking. Inspired to the work by her career as a high school educator and foster parent to many for over 16 years, her home is always open, yet she can’t bring herself to leave it as well to further the cause of combating human trafficking on an international scale.Capable of a cutting barb or the funniest line of any night, her eyes are always watching.

DJ

With over a decade of law enforcement experience and has been a sworn police officer in Kentucky, DJ is a seasoned investigator with an unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking. Throughout his career, he has taken on various roles, including serving as a tactical operator on the Louisville Metro Police Department’s SWAT team and working as both a violent crime/narcotics detective and a major crimes detective in the Special Victims Unit, often co-sworn with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. While DJ’s dedication to the pursuit of justice is unquestionable, he has a tendency to hold on too tightly to the cases he investigates. This unwavering attachment to the pursuit of traffickers and the rescue of victims is both a strength and a challenge. DJ’s deep emotional investment in each case can create operational challenges, and managing the emotional burden of these cases is an ongoing struggle for him.
